Anxiety & Panic Disorders
Anxiety
Are you consumed by worry about how things are going to turn out in the future? Do you imagine that upcoming events will have a catastrophic outcome and you won’t be able to cope? Maybe you have a test that you are studying for, a project at work, or an exciting new date and all you can think about is what could potentially go wrong. Maybe your worry shows up in multiple areas of your life – health, work, family, friends, finances, or other areas – and you have difficulty enjoying your life in the present.
How I can help...
We will be working together to help you identify the situations, patterns of action, feelings, and thought patterns that play a role in your anxiety. You will learn skills to challenge and diffuse your anxious thoughts, relax your body, and lean in, instead of avoiding challenging feelings and experiences.
Panic
Do you find yourself having sudden rushes of fear, rapid breathing and heart rate, trembling, dizziness, and a sense of unreality that leads you to think you are losing your mind? Maybe these attacks come out of the blue, or occur when you enter situations you fear. Maybe you find yourself avoiding situations where you fear that such an attack might happen. If so, you may have Panic Disorder. And if you do, you’re not alone. Recent large scale surveys indicate that 5% - 8% of the adult population have Panic Disorder at some point in their lives. The good news is that Panic Disorder is very treatable with the right approach.
